Artist Statement
I explore the ways dreams, memory, and the subconscious can be translated into visual form through moving images and illustration. My work often begins with emotional experiences, sometimes subtle, sometimes intense, which I transform into layered, immersive visuals. In my video and animation practice, I combine digital rotoscoping, distorted 3D models created in Blender, and spontaneous video footage collected during daily commutes or travel. By merging these disparate elements, I construct sequences that feel otherworldly yet emotionally grounded. In illustration, I use Procreate to build digital paintings made of abstracted shapes, textures, and expressions. These visual components become vessels for mood, atmosphere, and inner states. Influenced by music, Japanese animation and comics, and abstract art, I weave these inspirations together so that color, movement, and rhythm reveal my emotional landscape. Sound, both calming and abrasive, plays a key role in shaping the tone of the work. Through abstraction, I aim to create a universal language that reflects human desire, ambition, vulnerability, and resilience. My goal is to form a meaningful connection with viewers by acknowledging shared joy and suffering. Having faced personal setbacks and challenges, art has become a healing practice for me, and I hope it offers catharsis to others as well.Tired. Made on Procreate. 2024.
